Tongue Diagnosis
During your consultation the practitioner would like to look at your tongue. You will be asked to show your tongue for just a few moments while the practitioner makes certain observations. Most importantly they will look to see the colour, shape, coating, moisture, and any markings. This will provide valuable information towards your individual diagnosis and subsequent acupuncture treatment plan.
This is a pure visual examination the practitioner will not touch your tongue.
Pulse Diagnosis
Your pulse will be taken frequently and on both wrists. Pulse diagnosis is perhaps the most important diagnostic tool used in Oriental medicine and is far more involved than Western Medicine. There are no less than twelve pulses taken – six on both wrists in three separate positions. The practitioner will sense the overall and individual strength, frequency, and quality of all the separate pulses and also relative to each other.
